Thanks for being part of CALPIRG and helping make 2011 a success.

Check out some highlights from the year:
- Moved plastic bag bans forward in four of the six cities we were working in, setting the stage for a statewide ban to be introduced in the state Assembly in January. Here at UC Davis we collected 4,400 petitions, and across the state we collected over 25,000. The Davis City Council will be voting on a bag ban early in 2012, and 4,400 UC Davis students will be hard to ignore!
- Reducing the burden of student loan debt by capping students' monthly loan payments and stopping aggressive cuts to Pell grants, the federal financial aid program that serves more than 9 million students.
- Teaming up with the cast of Mad Men to make a Funny or Die video supporting High Speed Rail.
- Being a stop on the Textbook Rebellion, a national tour to raise awareness about the high cost of textbooks and affordable solutions. The tour collected 10,000 petition signatures and was featured in 100 news stories.
By joining together and funding CALPIRG through a $10 a quarter pledge here at UC Davis, we've been able to bring about some great results.
Thanks for your support.
Of course, there's still a lot to be done on all of our campaigns. We're excited for next quarter.
