The Copenhagen Climate Conference takes place this December on the 6th through the 18th, and it is time to get ready for this pivotal meeting in our planet's history.

The Kyoto protocol runs out in 2012. The United Nations Climate Conference in Copenhagen is the last time that the world's leading countries are scheduled to meet before the climate agreement is renewed. Over 170 countries are expected to be represented, and any Copenhagen Protocol which is reached from this conference will impact our world for decades to come.

The United Nations Climate Chief, Yvo de Boer, has set out these four questions as the essential issues that need to be addressed and answered at this conference.

1. How much are the industrialized countries willing to reduce their emissions of greenhouse gasses?

2. How much are major developing countries such as China and India willing to limit the growth of their emissions?

3. How is the help needed by developing countries to engage in reducing their emissions and adapting to the impacts of climate change going to be financed?

4. How is that money going to be managed?

December is not that far away, and it is time to start thinking seriously about these questions and working towards solutions. For further reading, I urge you to check out these two official websites on the conference.
